Ylläs: Backcountry Skiing in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park

Overview

This backcountry skiing tour takes you into the wilderness of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, far from groomed slopes and marked tracks. Over around 8 to 10 km, we move through snow-covered forests and open fell terrain, with wide views over the surrounding fells. Halfway, we stop at a traditional kota and share a fireside lunch by the fire. With a small group (max. 8), the experience stays personal and flexible: the pace and route adapt to the snow conditions and the rhythm of the group. No backcountry experience is needed; your local expert guide teaches the basics at the start. The tour lasts about 5 hours door to door, including pickup in Äkäslompolo or Ylläsjärvi.
